In 1995, Umberto Eco, the late Italian intellectural giant and novelist most famous for The Name of the Rose, wrote a guide describing the primary features of fascism. As a child, Eco was a loyalist of Mussolini, an experience that made him quick to detect the markers of fascism later in life, when he became arevered publilc intellectual and political voice. Eco made that the essential point, which we need to remember, that
fascism looks different in each incarnation, morphing with time and leadership, as "it would be difficalt for it to reappear in the same form in differnt historical circumstances."

Propaganda of "us vs. them", they are threats. 3. Anti-intellectualism, leader decides what is true and cannot be challenged. Multiple perspectives should not be taught. 4. Unreality vs. facts/truth, no equality access of info, make people used to lies. 5. Hierarchy is central. 6. Victimhood of equality -- loyalty to dominant group is important, minority is always biased. 7. Law and Order is to ask minorities' submission, and structures who is legitimate and who is not. 8. Sexual anxiety--strongman to protect women and children, LGBTQ people try to destroy your life. 9. Sodom and Gomorrah punishment of sinful modern city developments, but pure hard-working people live in rural areas. 10. Work shall make you free--minorities are lazy, labor unions always try to help them live easier, disabled people are worthless.
